Green Garnets occur naturally by way of several varieties. First there is 'grossularite', which comes in many fine tones of yellow, green and brown. Most of the green garnets we use are of this variety. The best known green garnet is most likely the tsavorite garnet, which also belongs to the grossularite group and whose green shades run from vivid and light to deep and rich.
The most sought after of all green garnets by collectors is the rare demantoid due to it's brilliance being greater than that of the diamond. Carl Fabergé loved the brilliant green garnet so much that he used it in many of his creations. Many gemstones of this variety come from Namibia. |
